TCC 2008: a picture is worth a thousand words...

So, how many words are 290 pictures worth...?

You probably heard about it already, either from the TCC website or Agnès' daily updates, I had a wonderful experience last week, down in Costa Rica. I took the pole position on day 1 after the leader got lost despite being local and having run the same course last year. And kept this pole position for 4 more days, before losing it in the 6th stage on day 5. I'm however very happy with this honorable second place, a very good start for my first multi-day/stage race, with some adventurous and challenging sections. I didn't bring my laptop with me in this humid and rugged jungle, but took 13 pages of notes to tell you more about the different stages, later...

In the meantime, and to keep some of last week's excitement alive, here is the album with my best pics from this incredible journey throughout Costa Rica. 210 km of pain and pleasure. 23 hours of running. More than 12,000 calories burnt. Great running buddies, volunteers and staff.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so enjoy the show (my Picasa album)... Click on Slideshow.

And for more pictures, look at Andres' incredible shots. This is Photography... worth millions of words...

You'll find other pictures on the following sites (I'll complete the list as other runners post their pics):
More in words later, then.

Hey, Stud, congrats! I heard you were winning. Sorry you lost it late, but 2nd place is awesome. Will check out your photos.

I'd love to do it next year, but you'd have to talk to my wife. Probably no multi-day races until my kids are a little older.

jean,
you are amazin'!
You've just added another legend to your story.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but your words let the readers relive your adventures.
I can't wait to read your account of what really happened at TCC!
Btw, you have one kick-ass bod. You should consider running shirtless more often (weather/wife permitting)!

Thanks, guys.

Hey, Toshi, any ultra running is "wife permitting", isn't it? ;-)

I don't think Agnès cares much about me running topless, at least if not through poison oak. But, gosh, I don't have Dean's appeal, really...

Actually, down there, I was fighting UVs and was way over dressed running in the heat at noon (see Andres' picture).

See you on the trails,

Jean.

Thanks to all for stopping by, that made quite a few virtual visits of Costa Rica!

Just a note to let you know that I've added Stefan's album. With great "insider" pictures, i.e. pictures of places where no other photographers dared to go or get the camera exposed to the water or the mud...

Can't wait for the movie he will work on later this year!

Pura Vida,

Jean.

Jean: excellent job on your run (I'm not worthy, I'm not worthy) and many thanks for your constant support to the entire mob of runners throughout this race. It was enjoyable to see that your album had pictures of everyone in the race and that you knew all our names (something I can't say for the race website or the director). I remember you patting me on my back in encouragement as I crossed the finish line on a particularly difficult day for me. Costa Rica was an amazing experience. Good luck in all your future races.
